This girl is Gabriela. She was a hairdresser very famous because she cut the hair of some celebrities.
But one day, in 1967, she was reading the newspaper and she saw that in her country there was a marathon. She had always loved running and when she saw that, she decided to run in it.
First, she went to the place where runners had to sing up for the marathon, but when she said she wanted to run in the competition, people said that she couldn't run because she was a woman. Suddenly, she started to shout and she became angry. Then, she went to her house and thought about it.
Despite people said she couldn't run, she went to the marathon and said again that she wanted to run. There was a man listening all the things the woman said, and he said: "ok, you can run, anyway you are going to lose".
The marathon started. At first, she was the last, but she thought about the phrase that the man said and she started to run faster. Although she didn't care losing, she wanted to show that women can be better than men. She started to run more a more and she passed all  men and she won the marathon! She was very proud of herself, and all people were surprised.
